Chestnut Horse Feeds Kelsall Hill Arena Eventing 24th January 2015

Kelsall_Hill_logo/After British Eventing (BE) announced the launch of arena eventing an exciting new two-phase arena competition open to both BE members and non-members, Kelsall Hill ran the first of three fixtures.

On a cold but very sunny day Organisers received good support in the four sections many riders thoroughly enjoying their day and vowing to be back.

Course designer Gillian Milner received lavish praise for setting good forward going tracks - the first phase consisting of seven show jumps that had to be negotiated before riders set sail over cross country type fences including corners, skinnies (narrow fences) and a decent roll top - a total of 18 obstacles.

Statham Sabu Ridden By Tina Matthews Winner BE80 GRAH0230MRFirst winner of the day was Warrington rider Tina Matthews who headed the BE80 competition. Tina’s winning partner was the locally bred Fairlyn Gemini 21-year-old Statham Sabu who had previously been evented by her older brother Denis before being retired from top class competition. “He soon got bored doing nothing so I brought him back into work last year. He’s had a good winter rest but luckily he gets fit very quickly and he was in good form here on his first outing of the year. The course was very well put together, and I think he enjoyed it more than I did - we’ll definitely be coming back for the next two dates,” said Tina who helps in the family livery business at Lymm and works part-time in a supermarket to fund her competitive outings. Last summer the pair gained eventing places at Kelsall Hill, Bold Heath and Brand Hall.

Starlight Clara Ridden By Lucy Hassal Winner BE90 GRAH0850MRLocal rider 14-year-old Lucy Hasall won the BE90 competition riding the six-year-old Starlight Clara. The Tarporley High School pupil has brought Clara on herself over the past two years, the pair being regularly placed at local riding clubs.
They were on the winning Cheshire Hunt South Pony Club inter hunt relay team at Warrington, Cheshire County and Nantwich Shows and they were also finalists at the National Schools Equestrian Association championships last year where they finished a very creditable second in their class. Early to go in this 52-starter class at Kelsall Lucy posted a 6 sec winning margin. “It was a real test with 18 fences in all, but Clara is very quick but sensible and she flew everything. She always gives 100% in everything she does and I think she is just coming to her peak now,” said Lucy.

Abbey Douglas Ridden By Emily Watts Winner BE100 GRAH2427MRTopping the BE100 class was Emily Watts and Abbey Douglas. Emily who lives in Audley and trains with Susie Gibson originally bought her Irish bred ARD VDL Douglas nine-year-old mare as a project to sell on, but five years down the line Emily cannot bear to part with her. Abbey Douglas has proved ultra versatile competing with great success in dressage, show jumping and cross-country competitions and after spending some time on the sidelines after a ligament strain she has certainly landed running. “It’s a good mix as she can turn her hoof to anything and she just loves this arena eventing. Although there were a few difficult lines and plenty options to think about this has been good fun and she never missed a beat,” said Emily who has completed her Level 2 exam and teaches dressage and show jumping full time.

Tipsy Laid Ridden By Corrine Molyneau Winner Novice GRAH0536MRLancashire rider Corrinne Molyneux won the novice section riding Tipsy Laird. By the Arab stallion Spotswood Jafieca Tipsy Laird is homebred out of an eventing mare previously competed by Corrinne’s mother Liz.
Corrinne aged 16 and a member of West Lancashire County branch of the Pony Club has brought the eight-year-old gelding on over the past couple of seasons the pair being members of the Wales and Borders Team in the 2013 under 18 BE100 championships. The pair was consistently placed at events in Cheshire and Yorkshire last season their best result being a novice third at Richmond.
“He loves his job and is a great fun person to ride. He was having a ball out there and went ears pricked all the way,” said the Ormskirk rider.

Kelsall were really pleased with the overall running of the event, we ran full to capacity that day, and an added bonus was the weather remaining glorious for us! We had lovely feedback and the competitors provided an excellent spectacle of Arena eventing that day! We are looking forward to the next arena eventing event which is proving very popular with over 70 entries already with still 2 weeks until closing! As an added incentive a league table will run over this inaugural meeting and the two remaining dates at Kelsall Hill on 7th and 21st February after which the winner will take home &pound100 of vouchers courtesy of Kelsall Hill.

Chestnut Horse Feeds sponsors of the Arena Eventing Series at Kelsall are providing a free diet assessment and plan to the top 10 riders in each class and also a 10% off their first order with Chestnut Horse Feeds

our new 2015 business approach is Pay, View and Save

In short you pay to view your photos and then you save them on your computer/mobile all for one upfront fee. The EnduranceGB Wirral and Sport Endurance rides, Pony Club at Somerford are examples of where we have done this to everyones benefit. Customers are getting between 30 and 80 photos for a single up front fee.

Copyright Theft Competion winners

Thank you to all of the contibutions I received with ideas on how we go forward as a business being rewarded for the work that we and our photographers put in.

Winners are Nicki, Gillian, Leonnie - there are several more people who made sugestions but i am sorry to say I can't find their details. If they would like to contact me they will also receive a prize.

The idea I liked the most and I have put into practice is Pay to View. Many people want to see their photos and show their friends and or sell their horses. Because my photos are permanently on the website they do not need to buy the photo to do this. So the customers that do buy photos subsidise the ones that don't.

So the events where riders have rider numbers displayed we can charge people to view the photos and show them on the website without a logo across the middle and allow customers to download and use these images with no further charge. The EnduranceGB Wirral and Sport Endurance rides, Pony Club at Somerford are examples of where we have done this to everyones benefit. Customers are getting between 30 and 80 photos for a single up front fee.

I gave up with BSJA because of low sales, however I will try this again now using Pay To View and test the market.

6th September

I am sorry many of you were expecting delivery this week. I have over 200 or so orders - I have not counted and I am doing about 20 per day so I am sorry to say this will take another two weeks or so. Montage proofs are being sent in the same timescale. I am trying to do the orders placed first but the orders have been shuffled so i don't really know who was first, Certainly the people who had orders on peices of paper are first. Those with order forms do have numbers on them but they were not issued in order. Beacuse you have approved a montage it does not mean it will be dispatched that day.

Those that have provided card details which we have yet to put through will get an email confirming the transaction has gone through. I anticpate putting those thorough early next week

12.00 Monday - Friday Scope now loading followed by Monday and then Personal Folders - will update when i have a feeling of loading times.

Scope 2012 - 65,696 PHOTOGRAPHS

We photographed every ring and every class (we missed the end of the 7 year old - my fault i am sorry to say. The class was split into B's and C's and i didn't know that. I thought it was just 7 year olds so after the first round of the C's and in the rain I thought i had photographed everyone competing. Of course after the second round C's there was the B's)

Photos will start loading Monday lunchtime. Night time photos will come later as i need to process them.

Indoor night time we were not prepared for. Three years ago i had my low light lens stolen at Scope so i had to use my wide angle outdoor lens. It took great photos over a number of the jumps but some near the ring edges where there was less light the camera EOS 7D struggled so the photos came out on the dark side. The effect of "photoshoping" these tends to make them blurred. I might not put these on the website.

Cropped Photos have been automatically processed so you can see the approximate result. Once ordered the original photo will be manually cropped and improved. As the photo has been cropped it may not make a good enlarged photo. It should be good at A5 size and maybe above. If it looks blurred on your screen - it will be blurred when i print it. If in doubt please email me. If you order a photo which in my opinion is not good enough i will let you know first.

I want you to be happy with your photos and please remember all my photos are guaranteed.

28th October

Please note all orders are now dispached within a few days. Xmas products to be added Calendars, Key rings, Coasters and Fridge Magnets.
